Unileite- União das Cooperativas Agrícolas de Laticínios da Ilha de São Miguel, UCRL (Union of Dairy Cooperatives of the Island of São Miguel) was founded in 1954. Milk producers came together in a democratic cooperative organisation that aims to support farmers and achieve the best possible value for the milk they produce.

Unileite started in their first factory based in Ponta Delgada, relocating in 2000 to Arribanas-Arrifes, the largest milk-producing area of the Azores. Unileite supports more than 500 milk producers and more than 250 collaborators. We transform more than 140 million litres of milk into UHT milk for consumption and the production of cheese, butter and cream. Our products originate from a natural environment. Our cows are born and bred in the fields. They live their entire life outdoors, feeding on the excellent grass that the mild Azorean climate provides all year. Is managed by an administration council that is elected for a period of 4 years by the members of the cooperative. Our mission as a cooperative is achieved each and every day, as we receive the milk from our producers and transform it into products. All profits remain in the Azores benefiting the lives of the local people.
Unileite operates according to modern standards, and has an integrated management system that is supported by food standards (Food SafetySystem Certification 22000) and environmental management (ISO 18001) certificates.
